Keep it coming!

Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

Freshies, Gnar POW, Cold Smoke, the white and fluffy…. whatever you call it, we’re finally getting it.  Lot’s of snow came this weekend and it’s coming down again. Grab your snorkel and get your self some face shots.

What a great weekend.  After a little bit of a dry spell, the clouds made up for it, and then some.  I’ve been here my whole life and I don’t recall Eldora running out of parking (could have happened, I just don’t remember it).  If you were lucky enough to get in on Saturday, you got some of the best conditions so far this season.  I was able to sneak in a few turns on Sunday and was thrilled to see how much more of the mountain is open.

Our Demo ski line got some rave reviews on the fresh snow.  Make sure to ask about our high end line next time you stop by, we’d be happy to show you our selection.

If you have some rock dings and scrapes on your equipment, now is great time to get it fixed so you’re ready for the next dump.  Nobody can do it better for cheaper, so get them in early.

New Server and Firewall Protection….Finally!

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

To all of you who have visited our site and have relied on it as a valuable resource in the past, I thank you for your patience while we straightened out our security.  Each ski season brings its own new challenges, some are more rewarding than others, but the infected material on the old servers has been wiped clean and restored to operating status.  It may take a few days for the browser warnings to disappear after the web browsers inspect the website and give it the ‘OK.’

In other news, we have reactivated our reservations page (see “Reservations” tab above) and can again take your reservations with 48 hours advance notice.  Eldora and the surrounding areas are currently getting snowed on and it’s going to be a great time to get up and enjoy the slopes and trails.  Snowshoe and Nordic trails have good coverage and offer a great experience for all levels of outdoor enthusiasts.  We’d be happy to recommend a good place for you and your friends or family to check out.

I hope everyone has been enjoying the season thus far.  The conditions will only get better from here on out so if you haven’t shaken the rust off your ski legs yet, now is the time.  We’re here and ready to help get you out and ready to enjoy your favorite winter activity.  Thanks again for your patience and understanding on our website problems this season.  We’re hoping that’s all behind us now and we can concentrate on what we do best, hands on expert ski tuning and winter sports rentals with great service.

Sincerely,

Justin Burger

IMG00569 20091202 0732 300x225 Were Up and Running! Bring On Those Winter Storms

Cool nights, early sunsets, and the smell of melted wax in the back shop.  Yup, winter is coming!  It’s been a great summer, but here at Crystal’s we’re chomping at the bit for a little taste of that “cold smoke.”   We’re talking about that freshy-powder folks.  It’s why we all live here, after all.

It’s time to dust off the sticks and bring them in for a tune-up.  Have you had your bindings checked?  Maybe you stored your gear without wax?  You didn’t dare store them outside, did you?  Let us give them a little TLC.  Your skis know.

We have a huge inventory of seasonal rental equipment for you as well.  We’ve got a great selection of well tuned and maintained skis and boards for kids and adults.

Lastly, all previous season merchandise is 50% off right now.  Quantities are limited, so hurry in.

Our October hours are 9am-6pm Saturday and Sunday and 12pm-6pm Monday through Friday.  Come in and visit us, and pray for snow.

CIMG0383 224x300 Kicking Off 2011 With Some Snow!

Lawrence about to drop in on Keystone's Outback Peak

Lawrence and Justin got to enjoy a day trying out the new Rossignol S3 and Avenger 82 demo skis at Keystone in the early part of January. So far 2011 has been cold, but it’s keeping the snow soft and fluffy. Most early season obstacles are covered now and the resorts have all their terrain open, so now is a great time to get your equipment tuned or pick up some rentals and enjoy the wonderful skiing conditions. Snowshoeing and Cross-Country skiing has been great in the front range the past couple of weeks too. No matter how you prefer to enjoy the Colorado winter, now is the time. After all, this is why you are in Colorado!

SNOW IS COMING!

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

Snow is in the forecast and the clouds are forming over Boulder! Some of the ski areas are open for the season, which makes now a great time to get your skis and snowboards tuned up and ready for the slopes. Come chat with our expert hands-on tuners about our custom tuning options.

We still have plenty of seasonal rentals available, but they are going fast. Come in now while we have a good selection of sport package skis, high end ‘demo’ skis, kids skis, and snowboards.

Notice to Air Travelers: Airlines Charging Big Fees for Checked Skis and Heavy Bags

Thursday, September 30th, 2010
aircraft 231x300 Notice to Air Travelers: Airlines Charging Big Fees for Checked Skis and Heavy Bags
If you have upcoming plans to travel with your snowsport equipment, note that there are big changes in the airline rules for oversized bags (like skis and snowboards) and heavy bags that perhaps contain ski boots and other equipment. It is important that you check with your airline (each airline is different) and understand the specific rules (dimensions, weights, quantities) for bags and the fees associated with them. For example, United Airlines charges ski/board bags and boot bags with no extra items in them as a checked item(with size and weight restrictions) and will charge for each additional bag. If you are traveling to Colorado, you may find that renting equipment (with us, hopefully!) is more cost effective than bringing your own equipment. With our new online reservation system you can easily reserve your equipment with us and enjoy a 20% discount off our regular prices.

Don’t Get “Cold Feet” For Winter Sports

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

cold feet 300x138 Dont Get Cold Feet For Winter Sports

If we could offer a simple formula for guaranteed success doing any snowsport, the formula would include the simple variable called Socks. Even though the technology and insulation has improved in downhill ski boots, snowboard boots and cross country ski boots, a good pair of socks is still essential. One pair of lightweight or medium weight socks works best for skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing. Socks are made from a variety of materials, including polyester, silk and wool. Socks designed specifically for snow sports have wicking properties similar to thermal underwear, meaning your feet will stay drier and more comfortable. The most important thing to remember about socks is “DON’T WEAR COTTON!” Cotton does not wick, absorbs water, is not insulative and stays cold when it is wet.

There are many snowsport sock companies out there and we have tested and researched most of them. We offer for sale, versatile, warm, durable socks for all snowsports at a very reasonable price.
